StreamInsight

Data volumes are increasing at a frightening rate across many industries today. Being able to react to patterns within these streams of data in real-time presents real challenges for which traditional ETL and data warehousing techniques are not well suited.  Complex Event Processing (CEP) and Event Stream Processing (ESP) are techniques that allow for analysis and processing of streams of data in near to real time and bring a potentially huge ROI to businesses.  Examples of areas in which CEP/ESP is useful include Algorithmic Trading Fraud Detection and Control Web Analytics Sensor Monitoring, although anywhere with high volume streams of data could potentially benefit.

Microsoft has entered the CEP/ESP market with StreamInsight which was released in conjunction with SQL Server 2008 R2.   StreamInsight is a framework built on .NET and allows for a great deal of flexibility in implementation. It is a natural addition to our skill set, and we are pleased to have experience in this exciting new area.
